I know it’s weird /but/ these videos were intentionally taken in portrait mode and are meant to be viewed on a phone or tablet. Do yourself a favor and select the highest quality available.

What I learned: Google Photos backup and free up space has its flaws, of course. Backing up photos in high quality is fine but only upload videos as the original quality. When I first backed/freed up it took out all the slowmo and over half the frames so putting the slowmo back in after the fact was practically useless. but at least the videos were somewhat salvageable…. :/ If only google photos would take that into consideration.
